I hope you all have a good holiday break! I am looking forward to getting some rest.
If you would like to give a gift, our class could really use some kleenex, glue sticks, and pencil top erasers at this time of year. Thanks for your continued support.

Christmas is coming. The goose is getting fat...
Only 2 weeks more until Christmas break. I am happy when the students work hard and have a desire for learning. Thanks for helping them keep up on homework last week.
Encourage your children to bring pennies to school supporting our Kony coins for kids project this week. It's for a great cause.

Thanksgiving was a wonderful break for me. I got to eat good food, visit with relatives and enjoy my children. I hope your break was great, too.
We have 3 weeks till our next break. The students will learn more writing skills to write explanatory and informative passages. I know that your students will be excited for the holiday, but please keep up on homework and reading.
One more thing to help encourage your children to focus. Our wonderful school counselor, Mrs. J., is going to give a ticket to her P-200 club if your children have perfect attendance during December. This means no absences, no tardies, and no leaving early from school. I know all of the kids can achieve this if they try.

I hope you have some plans to have a great Thanksgiving holiday. I am traveling to Utah County to visit with my family. Travel safely. I'll see you next week.

Tarzan was a wonderful play. The class seemed to love it. I am grateful that Candice Hancock accompanied us on the field trip. The local high schools put together some really great plays.
I need to apologize. I was in charge of the Reflections contest and did not get the SEP schedule out today. I will send a schedule home tomorrow. Please look for it. I tried to coordinate with other teachers if your child had a sibling in another class. I look forward to meeting with you next week to share the progress your child has made in the past couple of months. Please be ready to discuss any concerns you have as well.

We had a good day on Halloween. A big thank you goes out to Jessica Calder and McKenna Barwick for providing some fun for the kids. Thanks, also, to those who supported us in the parade and visited our classroom.
We are almost a 1/3 of the way through our school year. The trimester ends this week. Report cards will come out during SEP week. I will send out a schedule for SEP conferences next Monday. If you know a day that is better for you, please send me an e-mail beforehand.

Wow! I am so lucky to teach such well-behaved children! Thanks for all you do to help your children be respectful at home so they respect others at school. I have been so pleased with our last couple of math test scores, too. Keep helping your children with their homework. It is paying off.
This Friday, send your children to school in their costumes. They will parade around the track at 9:30. You may come and watch, then stay for our classroom party.
Remember to check power school for your child's grades at any time.

I had a lot of fun at Disneyland and California Adventure over fall break. I hope you did something fun with your family, too. The kids came back, ready to work. Thank you. This week is principal appreciation week, so if you can, let Mrs. Eggleston know how much you like her.
I sent home the yellow paper we filled out for SEP conferences in August. Please place it on your refrigerator or on your child's bedroom door as a reminder of what we agreed to help your child with. We will review it at November SEP conferences.
We will have a Halloween party on Halloween. It will take place immediately after the school costume parade (information was in an orange note today). I have parents who are willing to host this. Thank you. If you would like to come, please do.

Hello. I am so happy to see your children at school every day. They are very respectful to me. I appreciate that. This week, we are back to normal with a spelling list coming home. Please help your child study the ones they missed on the pre-test every day at home. Also, please remember to review math facts. The children should know all their times tables up to 12s by January.

This week is review week for Language Arts. The students are reviewing things like conjunctions and antonyms to do well on their test.
I was really proud of the class for doing so well on the Chapter 2 Math test. Take a minute to look over the results.
Keep working on times tables at home. Let me know when you need another monster wheel, fun flap, or flashcards.
Thanks for being involved in your child's education.

Also, I will be gone Friday morning to take my daughter to a well child visit with our doctor. I don't know who will be here then. Is it really the last week of school? Wow! The kids have learned so much. They have come so far.
Please don't let your kids be affected by the summer "slide." Encourage them to read as much as they can. I like to have my own children work in the Summer Bridge workbooks. These keep their minds active and ready for the next grade. (You can order these books on Amazon.com)
Homework this week:

Wow! Your kids are amazing. They came back from the break ready to settle down and work. I am happy that I can count on them. They earned 3 compliments within the first half hour of school today.
Homework is back to normal this week. There is a language arts packet. There will be four pages of math homework this week: Lesson 4, Check my Progress, Lesson 6, and Lesson 7. Parents, please go over the homework with your child after he/she completes it. Last Thursday's homework had a variety of answers that were not correct. Please read at least 20 minutes every night and practice multiplication facts.
I have sent home the results for the Benchmark test 2 given in December. Please work through the missed problems with your child and sign it and return by Friday.
The Reflections contest deadline is tomorrow. I am happy to hear a lot of the kids are working on their projects.
We will have the 4th grade treasure hunt for those who read chapter books during December this Friday.
Thanks to Hilary Jensen and Kayla for putting on our holiday party in December. The kids had a great time!
More donations we could use for our classroom are: tissues, band-aids, and glue sticks. If you are able to contribute, I would really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Melissa Nielsen
